While the demands of motherhood and other responsibilities can be overwhelming at times, taking time for simple pleasures can help you stay grounded and maintain a positive mindset. and to remember that the enjoyment of these simple pleasures is not a luxury but a necessity for your mental, emotional, and physical health. Incorporating these small moments of joy into your daily routine really can make a big difference in your overall well-being.

With this in mind, I introduce you to the beautiful guest joining me on this week's podcast:

Regan Figg.

A self-professed pleasure seeker in all the right ways.

Regan's book, A Mother’s Pleasure, is a modern guide to summoning your sensuality and weaving pleasure into the very fabric of your life. She also hosts the Pleasure Collective podcast.

After being diagnosed with Post Natal Depression after the birth of her son, she had trouble coping with what was happening to her body. Even after 15 years of yoga practice and teaching, and practicing as an exercise physiologist, studying neurology, physiology, biology Working as a health and wellness coach and coordinator for years didn’t seem to really help either.

But she realized that there was a better way to prepare for motherhood and a better way to weave herself through life and business whilst becoming the woman she was here to be.

In this week's episode, Regan shares her insights and practices to reveal just how simple the methods are but still how challenging it can be to break old patterns and beliefs around low self-esteem and low self-worth.

I think this is our chance, mamas.... And our o I think this is our chance, mamas....
And our opportunity.

Heal.
Slow down.
Nourish.
Connect.
Believe.
Know.

The idea of traditional “self-care” for mamas doesn’t work: even when we book it in, mamahood seems to shake things up just enough to sabotage it.

So we need small daily moments.

Like, teeny tiny.

Incremental teeny tiny moments add up to SPACE, and clarity, and an exhale at the end of the day.

They add up to resilience and an inner dialogue that whispers “it’s ok.

Your turn will come.

You’re doing a great job. Nearly there.” So for now, I’m listening to that whisper, and getting my teeny tiny moment.

Happy Wednesday

MEMORIES

Learning is important, of course.
But their mental health is first.

Their sense of peace, their creativity, their joy in the freedom of childhood... Surely that has to be FIRST?

So much of their world has turned upside down, and for now, Mathletics and Spelling Bees can wait.

Right now, I’m much more focused on maintaining their childhood and their sense of security in a very unsecure world... So today, we play.

But how, you ask? How do I take the first steps But how, you ask?

How do I take the first steps to wholeness, to the rebirthing that is happening?

You start with kindness.

Deep, soul-level self-compassion.

Compassion from knowing that this is more than just your experience of motherhood - it is the collective.

And then, you begin to reframe everything you know about yourself: your strength, your belief in yourself, your value as a woman, your grace and beauty, and your relationships.

Walk with me.

Come on this exploration with me.

Let’s crack open what we’ve been told about being a ‘good mother’ and a ‘good girl’, and redefine it ourselves.

We have to - we can’t have another generation of women sick, burnt out and yelling at everyone.

We can’t let another misconception of what it means to be a whole woman keep us chained to over-achievement.

Why would a podcast about Matrescence and the expe Why would a podcast about Matrescence and the experience of becoming a mother interview the author of a book about women WITHOUT kids?

Because, as you'll hear in this fascinating conversation with author Ruby Warrington, as women, we are all facing the same questions and assumptions of who we should be and how we should live.

A woman is SUPPOSED to want to be a mother, and love every minute of it.

A woman is SUPPOSED to follow a certain path and rules set by society.

A woman's reproductive status is a matter of open conversation and judgement.

This interview - and Ruby's phenomenal book - stirred in me an even greater commitment to breaking down ALL of the gendered-assumptions we have about mothering and woman... whether we are mothers or not.

And it also provided a powerful and important insight into the experience of women WITHOUT kids - whether by choice or by circumstance.
